Team Rokeby Ready for Rotto Swim Record
The Rokeby swim team are optimistic about their chances of breaking the Rottnest Swim record this Saturday with calm and hot conditions forecast for their attempt to claim a hatrick of victories in the team category.
After being first across the line last year only two minutes outside the official fastest time, the guys believe that with conditions more favourable this year they can register an outstanding time and really threaten the record.
Swimming for the Rokeby Dental Surgery and Implant Centre are (from left to right) Rhys Mainstone, Gregg Tidboald, Andrew Donaldson and Patrick Hoey.
Patrick, son of dentist Kevin Hoey, is doing work experience in Perth in his summer break from doctoral studies at Sydney University. Gregg (an Aquatic Services Supervisor), Andy (an accounting professional) and Rhys (works for Porsche) all live and work in Perth and have been training hard for their attempt at being crowned “Champions of the Channel” for a third straight year.
In our view, it’s a brave person who would bet against this four doing a threepeat!
Our best wishes are also with Dr Kate Scanlon as she prepares to take on the Rotto Swim solo yet again. If past years results are anything to go by, she will be right up there amongst the first women to cross the line!
